ATV & UTV Trip Fuel Cost Estimator

Budget riding fuel for one or more machines at your entered economy and price.

How this works, examples and questions

How it works

In mpg mode, divide miles per machine by miles per gallon. In metric mode, multiply kilometres per machine by litres per 100 kilometres and divide by 100. Multiply fuel by the entered price, then by machine count. All machines use the same distance and economy assumption.

Worked example

For 120 miles at 12 mpg, each machine uses 10 US gallons. At $4 per gallon, that is $40 per machine. Two machines use 20 gallons and cost $80. In metric mode, 150 km at 10 L/100km uses 15 litres; at $1.60 per litre the cost is $24 per machine.

Make the estimate useful for your ride

Use measured trail consumption rather than assuming a universal ATV or UTV economy figure. Slow work, terrain, load and conditions affect fuel use. If machines differ materially, calculate each separately. The price symbol is dollars, with no currency conversion; use one consistent dollar currency throughout your budget.

This is consumption cost, not tank range or a reserve recommendation. Use the fuel range tool to check fuel aboard and turnaround assumptions. Tow-vehicle fuel, meals, permits and maintenance belong in a separate trip or ownership budget.

Frequently asked questions

Is distance for the whole fleet or each machine?

Each machine is assumed to travel the entered distance. Machine count multiplies the per-machine fuel and cost.

Does a reserve increase estimated fuel burned?

No reserve is modeled here. This estimates consumption cost. Fuel range planning separately holds chosen fuel aside.

Can I enter different economy for each vehicle?

This page uses one shared assumption. Run separate setups for different machines and add their costs.

Does changing measurement mode convert my inputs?

No. It changes the meaning and visible units. Enter matching miles/mpg/gallon or km/L-per-100km/litre values. Setup links preserve the chosen mode and exact entries.
