How the layout is calculated
Edge clearance is removed from both sides of each deck dimension. For one machine we test the entered rectangle and, when enabled, its 90-degree rotation. For two to four machines the planner tests recursive row/column combinations with independent rotations and the entered inter-machine gap. It keeps non-dominated bounding rectangles and displays a fitting candidate. This is not a complete arbitrary-packing solver: diagonal or interlocking shapes are not modeled.
Worked example
A 144 × 72-inch deck with 3-inch edge clearance leaves 138 × 66 inches. A 120 × 64-inch rectangle fits the dimensional screen. Loaded weight remains unchecked until every weight input is supplied. Even a passing weight screen does not verify tongue load, axle distribution, ramps, tie-downs or transport orientation.
Frequently asked questions
Does a fit mean safe or legal loading?
No. Confirm clear gate/door width and height, ramp capacity and approach, attachment access, axle/tire limits, trailer GVWR, hitch and tow-vehicle limits, brakes, measured tongue load, load distribution and applicable laws. The calculator does not inspect your vehicle or trailer. Use manufacturer documentation and qualified inspection.
Can I choose two different machines?
Yes. Add up to four rows. Each can use a reviewed record or custom dimensions, and every field can be edited. Machine selection supplies only stock dimensions. Accessories and modifications can change the real footprint.
Why is the weight result “not checked”?
An unknown weight is not zero. Enter every actual loaded machine weight, the empty trailer weight, extra cargo and the official GVWR to get the arithmetic comparison. No machine specification is silently substituted.

Reading this estimate
The planner removes outside allowances and tests combinations of the individual rectangles. Opening and weight screens are separate checks. Missing loaded weights remain unknown, and a fitting rectangle does not prove ramps, entry path, restraint access or transport orientation.
Does a nominal six-foot trailer guarantee a 72-inch opening?
No. Measure deck and opening between actual obstructions. Rails, posts and door frames can reduce clear space independently of the advertised trailer size.
